Canberra Mothercraft Society is proud to support the transport needs of mothers attending the Mother-Infant Dialectical Behavioural Therapy program in 2024.
The Mother-Infant Dialectical Behavioural Therapy program, currently being run through Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Consultation Service (Canberra Health Services), was in jeopardy when they lost their funding source to get the vulnerable families to the program.
The program is for women who have borderline personality disorder or complex post-traumatic stress disorder and who have a child under the age of 2. The intervention, modelled on a similar program in Adelaide, consists of 26 weeks of intensive individual and group therapy. The program is run at the Gungahlin Child and Family Centre, with on-site childcare provided by YWCA.
When CMS learned of the loss of transport for vulnerable participants, we provided immediate assistance through the provision of Cab Charge vouchers.
