THE CANBERRA MOTHERCRAFT SOCIETY SALUTE AND CELEBRATE GENERATIONS OF QEII STAFF

This evening the board of the Canberra Mothercraft Society (CMS) will hold a cocktail reception at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra to salute and celebrate generations of QEII staff.

Having established and run the QEII Family Centre for 56 years, CMS will hand over the reins to Tresillian on 1st July 2019.

“Over the past 56 years, generations of staff have worked tireless to support families of the ACT who were grappling with a variety of issues with their babies. From sleep and settling, to nutrition and complex behavioral difficulties, our expert team of staff have been there to provide gentle guidance and support to thousands of families.  As we hand over the reins to a new provider, we want to take the time to celebrate this important contribution they have made to this community under CMS”, said Fiona Smith Du Toit, President of CMS.

The event will provide an opportunity for staff to look back over years of service, success stories and friendship. It is also an opportunity for CMS to look to the future and share their plans for community development programs in the coming years.

CMS has provided professional health and social services to families of young children in the ACT and surrounding region since 1926. They have a long history of identifying gaps in services for families with young children and establishing new services to meet those needs. Once established, many of these new services have become organisations in their own right or are now are now run by the ACT Government.

CMS was distinctive in demonstrating very early on in the new national capital its capacity to deliver complex primary health care services with economy and responsiveness to community needs. It continues to demonstrate that proud history today.
